Formulation Chemist – Cosmetics - Runcorn

A unique tech enabled colour cosmetics brand who are taking the industry by storm are looking to hire an experienced Cosmetic Chemist. As the Development Chemist you be a key member of the business and involved from concept through to launch. As the Cosmetic Formulation Chemist you will have an excellent opportunity to grow with the business and develop your career further. Although colour cosmetics experience is preferred we are open to bringing in a cosmetic formulation chemist ideally within skincare and offering excellent training and development opportunities mainly within colour cosmetics.

Requirements;

Previous experience taking innovations from concept to launch

Formulation experience within cosmetics, preferably skincare or colour cosmetics

Strong knowledge of raw materials within cosmetics, with a lean to colour cosmetics

Ability to create a variety of product sensory and performance characteristics

Experience of in-vitro testing of formulations to evaluate their characteristics against a brief would be highly desirable

A good network within the industry

Understanding of cosmetic safety regulations and compliance (FDA, REACH, etc.).

Responsibilities

Owning and managing the formulation laboratory including safety

Driving product innovation/improvement

Re-engineering product benchmarks to create new formulas

Translating consumer sensory and performance data into formulations

developing networks with raw material suppliers, staying ahead of industry trends,

Awareness of new ingredient launches methodologies

Working closely with NPD, marketing, technical/production and regulatory teams

Innovate with regulations and guidelines in mind

Perform testing to evaluate the stability, efficacy, and safety of all formulations

Performing in-vitro testing of formulations Create prototypes with a variety of product sensory and performance characteristics

Working with contract manufacturers taking final formulas to production
